Monsui Ise (1859- ? )


 Monsui Ise (1859- ? ) An artist/merchant born in Nagoya
 in the later portion of the Edo period.
 His real name was Uemon Mizuno, but he was later called Iseya.
 He was a self-taught artist and painted Traditional Japanese
 scenes very well.
 This particular painting is characteristic of his style.
 The dancers in the paintings are doing "Noh" theater
 (a kind of slow Japanese dance/recitation using fans and masks).
